Code of Ethics

Coach

 

·         I will treat each opposing player, opposing coach, official, parent and coordinators with respect and dignity.

·         I will acknowledge in my behavior and language that the W.A.Y.S. exists for the children first and a life of soccer second.

·         I will, in all circumstances, teach and model good sportsmanship winning with grace and losing with dignity.

·         I will base playing time decisions on individual player development and learning, not winning.
I will do my best to learn the fundamental skills, teaching and evaluation techniques, and strategies of soccer.

·         I will become thoroughly familiar with the rules of soccer and teach them to players and parents.

·         I will become familiar with the objectives of W.A.Y.S. and will strive to achieve these objectives and communicate them to my players and their parents.

·         I will uphold the authority of officials who are assigned to the contests in which I coach and I will assist them in every way to conduct fair and impartial competitive contests.

·         I will learn the strengths and weaknesses of my players so that I might place them into situations where they have a maximum opportunity to achieve success.

·         I will plan and conduct my practices and games so that all players have an opportunity to improve their skill level through active participation.

·         I will communicate to my players and their parents about rights and responsibilities of individuals on our team.

·         I will cooperate with the coordinator of our organization in the enforcement of rules and regulations, and

·         I will report any irregularities that violate sound competitive practices.

·         I will protect the health and safety of all players by insisting that all of the activities under my control are conducted for their psychological and physiological welfare, rather than for the vicarious interests of adults.

·         I will not allow players that do not meet the age requirement in my team.

·         I will not allow un-registered children to play in my team.

·         I understand that lack of responsibility or negligence on any of the above commitments may be cause for dismissal or suspension as a coach or assistant from WAYS League.

Parents

 

·         I will treat each opposing player, opposing coach, official, parent and coordinators with respect and dignity.     

·         I will acknowledge in my behavior and language that the W.A.Y.S. exists for the children first and a life of soccer second.    

·         I will, in all circumstances, teach and model good sportsmanship winning with grace and losing with dignity.    

·         I will become involved with my child's coach, familiar with the rules of soccer and respect players and coaches.  

·         I will become familiar with the objectives of W.A.Y.S. and will strive to achieve these objectives and communicate them to my child.  

·         I will uphold the authority of officials who are assigned to the contests in which my son/daughter plays and I will assist them in every way possible when required. 

·         I will learn the strengths and weaknesses of my child so that I might place him/her into situations where he/she may have a maximum opportunity to achieve success. 

·         I will plan to involve my child in all practices designated by our coach so that my child has an opportunity to improve his/her skills through active participation. 

·         I will communicate to my son/daughter about discipline, respect, rights and responsibilities of their participation in a team.  

·         I will cooperate with the coordinator of our organization in the enforcement of rules and regulations, and I will report any irregularities that violate sound competitive practices. 

·         I will protect the health and safety of all players by insisting that all of the activities under my control are conducted for their psychological and physiological welfare, rather than for the vicarious interests of adults. 

·         I will not allow my son/daughter to play in a division lower than his/her age group.  

·         I will not allow my un-registered son/daughter to play in a team. (Insurance Purposes)  

·         I understand that lack of responsibility or negligence on any of the above commitments may be cause for dismissal or suspension from the fields and as a coach or assistant from WAYS League.
